Chessie Wood was arrested in 2019 after deputies said she abused a 10-year old girl physically in 2009. The department investigated since the girl came forward with the allegation in January 2013.
According to the investigator the abuse was believed to have happened only one time. However, Chessie proclaimed her innocence as Hall escorted her from an MCSO van to Mobile County Metro Jail. She was busted to tears.
She said, “I need to find my daughter, and I can’t do it in here.” “Please look for my daughter. Don’t let this deter anything.” Chessie highlighted the fact that she raised five children.
Chessie was the sixth of Brittney’s family members to be implicated on physical abuse charges since Brittney’s disappearance. She lives in her own home in Mobile, Alabama.
Her sister, Wendy Holland was convicted of a lengthy list of crimes against children and is currently serving a 200-year sentence. Chessie believes that her sister is responsible for her daughter’s disappearance.
Brittney Wood’s mother Chessie Wood was arrested. In 2013, she was charged with two counts of sodomy and physical abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
Chessie pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment and did not serve any prison sentence in October 2016. She always maintained her innocence.
She told in the docuseries that she only took the plea because “all I could think of is I ever go behind bars, I’ll never find her.” She hoped that somebody will come forward to let law enforcement and the family know what happened to Brittney through docuseries.
Chessie Wood’s daughter has not been found since she got lost in 2012. On May 30, 2012, Brittney left her mother’s home in Mobile, Alabama, between 7 to 7:30 pm.
There is a docuseries named “Monster in the Shadow,” streaming on Peacock, tries to unravel the mystery of Wood’s disappearance, which led to the shocking discovery of an incest and child trafficking ring of Wood’s own family.
Before Brittney vanished, she told her mother that she was going to meet her uncle, Donald Paul Holland Sr. Her last cell phone location was from the River Styx area where Holland lived.
